FI Car Audio.

I was talking too FI CAR AUDIO through myspace a while back. Anyways, I remember asking them dudes that I wanted to put 2 15 BTL's, 1 amp for each woofer that runs stable @ .5 ohms for each dual 1 ohm btl 15. They kept on suggesting that this wasnt recommendable because I might burn the woofer or blow it:confused: and I have heard the oposite here on CA:confused: that it'll be fine:crap: or that my amp might burn and that the life span of the sub will be shorter than normal:confused:
I told you that because when you run something that low you are attempting to put more current, than voltage into the coil...the amplifier also does that as well.

Current is the driving force in electricity, it also induces a LOT of heat into the system. So EVERYTHING will run hotter.

Don't do it, if you are daily driving do not do it.

each sub will be powered by a mmats d3500.05, .5 ohm stable:)
It's not .5ohm stable, that's marketing talking, no amp is .5ohm 'stable'. You are attempting to put out two times as much current, than voltage. Put the amp on a .5ohm resistor bank at 14.4v and see what happens to it. It will burn it self alive.

.5ohm is not .5ohm for us. It would be a DCR of .35 ohms.

Do not do it man, i'm telling you. If you get the dual 2ohm coils you'll rest at .7 ohm DCR, which is much safer.

I've been doing this for years man //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Trust me. Do not do it. You'll thank me later.

If you play a spl FI daily music you will blow it
But if you pick the daily driver you won;t my buddy has a fi and im geting one soon to

---------------------------

I have run a Lanzar 2000D at 0.5 daily with 2 SI Mag 15's. Tuned for high output and didn't have a problem with heat at all.

Subscribed - for pearls of wisdom.

I'm hoping for a spirited debate, by lots of folks smarter than me.

(which is just about anybody).

to the OP listen to Nick..

Just got of the phone with David Thompson from Mmats, he said the amp will run @ .5 ohm stable with no problems, thats what it was made for. Thats why they have the 2 diferent models wich is the Mmats D3500.1 @ 1 ohm stable and the Mmats D3500.05 for those who whant to run @ .5 ohm, both amps will put out the same power regardless of there ohm load, there power supply is very regulated, but if you drop both amps lower than recomended ofcourse there going to produce more power.

.35? Lol that sounds scary. So if i get both subs dual 2 ohms, each amp will be seeing .7 ohms?

Just because it can "run" at .5ohm does not mean that you need to do it. It's something many people do not understand from an electricity standpoint (Your trying to put out twice as much current than voltage into the coil, current means more heat builds up more heat in the coils and more heat in the amp...simply is not a good idea)

Shoot for dual 2's, the DCR is actually 1.4ohms. You'll be good to go if you wire them in parallel.

Oh ok I see.

But at 1.4 ohms my amps wont put out full power:crap:

I would put them parallel but I whant to use both amps, and there not strapable:crap:

Ill see what I do.
