Fi BTL questions...

I'm pretty sure I've made up my mind that these are the subs for me. These will be going in a 2003 Land Rover Discovery II. I'm going to be getting two 15" fully loaded. I just have a few questions...

1. I've heard that Fi underrates them a little bit, it this true? If so, should I run a more powerful amp? I was thinking of running a Hifonics Brutus 2000wRMS. Should I go higher?

2. Should I run 2 of the Kinetiks HC 2000 or 1? (I know two would be better, but would one get it done? Or possibly one HC 2400?)

3. Would a 200amp alt get me buy, or should I go ahead and get the 220 or 240amp?

4. Also, this doesn't quite have to do with the subs themselves, how much do you guys think it would cost to have a custom audio place mod a dash to fit a double din unit? I'm trying to get a ballpark figure before going around getting quotes. I was figuring ~$200-350? Close?

1. that hifonics won't give you 2000 watts rms. get the 2608 and you'll be fine, especially if the BTL is fully loaded.

2. 1 2000 should be fine.

3. 200 amp alt should be good, but I say upgrade to the largest you can afford.

4. hard to tell what kind of price you'll be looking at because we don't know what kind of car you drive. my guess is more that 300 becuase they will want to fiberglass you a new dash.

Thanks for the info man. So one battery should cover the two subs?

Anyways, I posted that I drive a 2003 Discovery II in the first post, but it's cool, you must have missed it. Now that I got a list on, I can go ahead & be saving the money & looking for good deals

Yeah if it help, Im going to run 2500rms soon with a 100a, Big 3, Redtop upfront, and a HC2400. Just thought I give you an idea. But if your battery bank is good and the upgrades are there you'll be fine man.

I was also thinking of an AQ 2200D for each. That should power it good, right?

EDIT: I was also looking at an American Bass 120.1 for each.

Any objections to these?

anything over the shitfonics... i ran one and it blew up then i said **** it and broke open the wallet for the diamond d6 //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

You're talking about their sub. Do you have any experience with their amps?

I had one.... I will never buy Hifonics again. Those AQ 2200ds are nice though
Ok, those look like good choices then.

you're gonna need more batteries to run 3-4kw
Well, two HC 2000s should be enough. For a quick comparison, Steve Meade runs a ~1.12 ratio (battery amps/amplifier wattage). I would achieve the same ratio by having 4480 amps for 4000 watts. So, two HC 2000s in the back should cover me theoretically.
