Fi Audio, DC, Sundown, or Skar audio for 1500w rms?

Sooooooo. I over powered my last two subs by about 500wrms. I just smoked them out about 2 hours ago, I was showing off with two skar VD 12s at 500wrms each earlier today setting off car alarms at my local mall lol [emoji23] I usually never do that. They were pretty hot, but I've always ran them 500wrms over. Anyway I have a slot ported box right now for 2 12s that's about 3.5 maybe 4.0cu ft total. The amp I have is a hifonics brutus 1516 and I'd like to keep it running at 1ohm, which is 1500wrms rated from hifonics. I want more of a sq setup that'll still get loud, two 12in subs, orrr I was thinking about maybe going to 2 15s sealed for more sq purposes, maybe a single 18? The car is a 1991 Subaru legacy wagon. I have a budget of 3-400 right now but if I wait a couple weeks I can increase that budget. Opinions and options on all quality subs is welcome. Please a little help here guys.

Sundown would be my number one choice but very expensive for the 1500w rms. Very sturdy product though. if you have the money get it. Fi would also be great but at the same time you have that awful build time. Skar is great for budget and for your budget. I have a single Skar EVL 18 and its great for the money.

Yeah those two VDs took a beating of 500 over rms for quite a while. I like skar audio a lot. I really want two of the SA 12s ported to 32hz or should I go with a 15 possibly 18 and port it around 35? I want decent output still with a little more sound quality. Space isn't a factor for my wagon at all.

for sure port. don't seal. Just do what you have space for. Personally 2 15s if you can fit it. more cone area and power handling than a single 18. 2 18s if you could fit it!

I might be able to do the VVX subs from skar audio as 15s. I think they call for 4cuft ported a piece so that'll be a big *** box. I'd probably do 9cu ft. I was also thinking about that EVL 18. Mainly torn right now between the EVL 18 and sundown SA 12s.... Both around 32hz tuning...

Well. The EVL 18 gets down, but if you're big on motor force, it has about the same size motor as the SA series.... Personally. I wouldn't go smaller than 15s in a SUV sized vehicle. Thats just me. If you have space for bigger than 12s do it, or do 2 12s in a 4th/6th bandpass. 1 18 has mucho more cone area than 2 12s btw. so that might be a better bet in that regard.

yeah I did JUST have a 12 in my jeep and now I have an 18, I wouldn't go back to 12s without having 4-8 of them. If you can fit more cone area its better to just use the biggest cones you can fit.

Pick up a used sundown X 15" and build a nice ported box around 4.5" cubes net. Or pick up a new SSA Icon 15".

Those two were pretty loud and loud enough for me, everyone around my area knows my car because of it. I think I would be happy with the SA 12s but I might go SA 15s instead if I can the box where I want it. Somewhere around 32hz

1 18 really doesnt have all that much more cone area than 2 12s.

And there are many people with loud 2 12 setups in an suv... My daily box does 149 legal and 151 kick. My comp boxes are louder. Just 2 12s on 3k

Its not just cone area. The ssa zcon is stupid low mass and excellent motor strength. It will SMOKE two sa 12s above 40hz..

I had an sa 15 and I recommend it. That or an EVL 15

I never said something like a zcon wouldnt perform well... but why arbitrarily dismiss 12s? Because if we are talking a lower level 18, like the skar evl, the 12s will outperform it.

Id absolutely do a zcon 18 over 2 sa12s. But dismissing 12s arbitrarily is stupid.
