Few questions before I buy.

Yo what's up everyone? I have a few questions to ask and hopefully you guys can help me out a little here.....ok, i'm on a budget and I was going to get 2 Memphis PR 12's and i'm looking for an amp, I was thinking about the Cadence TXA 300.2. I'm looking for an amp in that price range(under $140). So what do you guys recommend?

Now the 12's I was going to buy, I just want to make sure there's nothing else out there that would be louder and more durable than memphis at that price. Is there?

Another thing, my friend has been on me since day one since he got his 2 12" MTX 7500s and they were louder than my JL Audio 15W0-8 and quite frankly, I want to stomp him. So I guess my question for this is, if I got those 2 PR 12's and the cadence amp and put them in a 4.0 cu.ft. ported box, tuned around 32-35 hertz, will it be better than his?(he is also getting a new box and amp so I can't give you any more details than the subs and we both drive blazers).

Thanks for helping me out.

Those subs look real nice, you think they would hit harder and cleaner than memphis? If so, i'm gonna grab them.

Now i've never heard that kind of amp before, in your opinion, will it do its job and more?

- David

i personally say RE > Memphis.. especially at this level

but directed is a decent company.. dont expect miracles for $120 for an amp tho.. at least the directed amp will push out around what they say it produces (600 @1ohm)..

i have seen mixed reviews on directed tho.. some people like them.. some people dont... i personally like them..(hence the recommendation)

Yeah, I was looking around for RE subs like this for a while....just never looked on ebay, lol. I've heard the memphis PR subs before so if the RE subs hit even just a little harder and they're cleaner, i'll be very happy. I'm gonna snatch them up at that price.

And yeah, I don't expect a miracle, but what I do expect is it to push them well without much distortion. It looks like my best choice, thanks a lot jaboran.

putting a pair of those 12 re sr's in a ported box about 2cubes a piece.. should sound pretty good

ack.. just read that YOU had the w0.. heh.... either way.. the re's will compete with the 7500 pretty well.. dunno about stomping yer friend on that budget tho.. at least imo, it will be close

Lol, i'm the one running the JL Audio.....and has been for almost 2 years now. I got it for free from a friend who didn't think it would last long after going through years of abuse from other owners and I sure as heck proved him wrong. But I think it's time for me to upgrade to something bigger than the W0.

I can't wait to order those and try them out, and you said 4.0 cu.ft. should be good? Even though RE recommend 1.5 per sub? And what kind of tuning should I go with?

34-38hz IMO

i said 4cu ft cuz i thought u had the box already.... my bad

if not then go and do 1.5cu ft per sub 3cu ft total.. and at LEAST 14sq inches per cubic foot of box volume.. or even a little bigger.. say 1.75cu ft per sub(24sq inches of port area per sub)

so for 2 chambered 1.5cu ft per sub, dual port.. each port should have an area of at least 21sq inches.. or 2 subs shared chamber 3cu ft should have a 42sq inch port

now u can play around with the port area a little bit.. just dont go too big or too small.. it could cause issues.. so to be safe stay within 14-18sq inches of port area per cubic foot
