F'd sub?

Well yesterday me and a friend were goin back to his house and he had his music up. We take a corner and as we turn the sub (when the bass hits) made a rattle sound. Loud rattle sound. He turns it down really quick to make sure he didn't mess something up, slowly turns it up and it sounds good. He gets it half-way where he had it before and it was allright...untill the low bass hits, then it sounds like ! We get to his house, pops the trunk and we look at it and nothing seems wrong. You can put your ear to the box and hear a slight rattle sound when its kinda low on high notes, but as soon as the low stuff hits is when it sounds bad. I'm pretty sure its not the spider because whent he volumes down it doesnt sound bad at all, then turn it up a little and it get worse.

Any info I could help him out with would rock, thanks.

my 2 12" Crunch subs shitted out on me the same way by rattleling bad then i find out my bassboost was on and i didn't even know it, those subs sounded like loud farts anyway

could be the tinsel leads slapping the cone. or the coil is rubbing

It sounds more like a slap than a rattle now I think about it. Is it hard to fix?

use some electrical tape and tape the tinsel leads

the electrical helped out when i had my Pioneer subs so you should be fine now just don't bottom out your sub to much or it'll sound like a gaping fart

Don't rule out a problem with the spider(s) just yet. Take the sub and play it free air at low volumes and listen for the sound again.

I plan to take it outta the box hes got now and look at it after school. Once we figure out whats wrong I'll let you guy know, just incase someone has the same prob and is also wondering.

If its the spider I can just epoxy it and wait a few days and it should be good. Does anyone else hear of problems with spiders as much as I do? Have a guy tell me he blew a voice coil and it was his **** spider. Didn't charge him but the local car shop was like "a kajillion dollars and ill fix it". that guy.
