extending battery cables

Cutting my factory terminal off and theres not enough slack to attach new ends and reach the new terminal. Just have to extend less than 6" for the starter wire and fuse box. Thinking about using some 8 gauge wire (only open spots on the new terminal will be 8 gauge) and these guys. Gardner Bender HSB-28 Butt Splice Kit - Amazon.com

I would either solder and heat shrink them together or ring terminals and a nut and bolt.

Think im gonna do away with battery terminals all together and just use ring terminals and a bolt.
