Esitimated gain?

rofl, i'm glad i have zero credibility and you are the all knowing jerk of car audio. Pretty funny when i call an engineer that has designed and built some of the best amps in the industry and his response to what you said is "wow, he must be the bionic audio man if he can hear 1db".....
anyways, i know now who NOT to attempt to have a rational conversation with since it's quite clear your opinion is the bible to you.....
I didn't say YOU had zero credibility. I said 15 years installing doesn't make you an expert on perceptible intensity differences. And the hard headed part was that you *think* and continue to argue that you're right when there have been countless studies proving you (and your amp engineer buddy) wrong.

I also never claimed to be "all knowing". And I'm sorry if you think I'm a jerk because I (and "akadj") proved your opinion wrong with facts.

Which part of my side of this coversation was irrational? My opinion is not my bible, but I don't pull my opinion out of my ass.

The part where you said BK fries were better then Mickey D's //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

Even though I'm old and deaf I must have pretty good hearing as over the years I've been able to tell a 1-2db diff either up or down in numerous set ups. ***** when you make changes and give it a listen and know the TL isn't even needed as you took a step in the wrong direction...

I'm going to focus on the M4a. Once I can I'll add another M4a with the 9912s. Stick two of those giant XS D7500s in the rear foot wells I guess. I'll already have one with the first amp. It would be cool to have the loudest two 12 setup under 40hz. That could do it. Or maybe if life is good a pair of DD Z 10s

Alright gentlemen, OP asked a question and wanted an answer. It may have been a question that is almost impossible to answer due to the sheer amount of variables involved, but he didn't ask for an all out flame war. Take it to The Thunderdome! or private messages. No need to completely derail the thread.

Don't let anyone scare you away from.a 4inch coil. Bigger coils also have higher bl products that generally counteracts the weight and for low bass mass is not a bad thing anyways. The thermal advantages especially st your your power levels outweigh the loss.. my current sub is a 6inch coil and is light enough for 96db per watt per meter rating.. bigger coils up your power handling drastically. Not just taking the power and not burning up but actually using thr power for output. There are many good cooling tricks now on three inch coils but they are still just tricks to eek a bit more out without blowing..

You'll see more gains on music than a burp as music heats the coil more than a 3 second burp.. that burping part of car audio culture is probably where part of the fear of a heavier coil comes from. I know your meterijg but if your looking at 30hz in assuming your mostly into music. If not you could be an easy mid 50 by tuning higher lol.
