Enclosure Build for Beatkeeper1

^.25" straight-bit //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
And you just plunge it in a bit at a time and take a few passes, each time doing about a .25" of material and it'll be fine.

And lookin good, ink //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Thanks man will try it on some scrap hoping tomorrow. Hoping to make some cash tomorrow to buy some new tools and benches.

wicked clean
Glad you like it so far //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

looking good bro .the carpet job will look nice with that groov cut in . take care bro
Thanks alot steve, always good to hear from you.

they cut a groove out so there is some where to make a good covering seem that will not pull apart.(so you can tuck the carpet in it). good work if you ask me. BUT i still dont see why all these people are not using screws anymore.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wow.gif.23d729408e9177caa2a0ed6a2ba6588e.gifI guess if it's not a high powered system it should do fine
This topic has been covered MANY times. Screws do not add strength. They simply replace the clamps for drying time. Wood glue has a much stronger bond than screws, and it covers a much greater area. Titebond has a 2000psi tensile strength //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Screws are not necessary.

Building a box this week I am hoping since the wood is in my living room. What is the size router bit you guys are using to make the groove for the carpet???? And how deep is it? Oh and looking nice man.
I use a table saw, 1/8" blade at 1/8" height, set the fence right next to the blade. But as PS said, a 1/4" bit works fine as well.

Much appreciated //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

Lookin' good!
Thanks //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

The glue didn't react well to the cold weather (close to 0) and didn't form a strong bond on the last plate. I took the plate off, cleaned up both surfaces, re-glued and clamped it, and took it inside to dry. It's fixed, and we're back on track //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif

Today was the coldest day all year...It's 10:30 at night and it's 46*

I love Florida sometimes.
I may have to kill you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/fyi.gif.9f1f679348da7204ce960cfc74bca8e0.gif

HAHA its all good it'll be 30 tomorrow in florida. Have to admit though this hot col and hot cold crap is getting on my last nerve. Yeah building a box in this cold reminded me when I was back In Memphis TN.

Front plate glued & clamped (no glue mess //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif)

Once again, too cold for the glue outside, so here it sits in my dining room.

Depending on weather, I may do some painting when I get out of work tomorrow..

your building this box with glue only!?

man i don't know better be some strong ass glue cause i don't know i would at least put a few 1.5 or more braids in it just for insurance, i have built a box with just braids no glue an it held great but nothing bigger than a 10 though. anything bigger i would have to bring in some screws.

but enough of my bickering lol its looking to be a good looking box an i like the grooves on the side for the carpet i am assuming, can't wait to see it finished an oh btw i build in cold year around i think that is when i do most of my building is in december an january lol but keep on building man.

Thats why he has all those clamps on the box. Theyre doing the same thing as the screws do until its dried.

I am a noob at building boxes. Can some one explain how the groove helps the carpet when it is time to put the carpet on ? A picture may help speed up my thinking process for an early Saturday. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif

You tuck the carpet into the grooves on the ends for a seemless look //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
