Electrical to run this amp?

I'm planning on running 2 15" Fi Q's on either a JBL BPX2200.1 or a Kicker ZX2500.1. I've done some research and found a 140amp alt was good on the kx2500.1 with a batt. in the rear. I was wondering what I would need to keep these things going.

My specs are :

160amp Alternator

Will do Big 3

Not sure about battery game, this will depend on what you guys tell me.

Not that it matters, but different question :

Will these 2 15" Q's slam with these amps in a ported enclosure tuned to 30-34hz on about 8-10 ft^3?

If you need any further info please let me know.

Thanks!

Yessir.

I would recommend a deep cycle under the hood, a large deep cycle in the rear. Big3, solid 1/0 power and ground (ground to frame). That would be sufficient for now.

I've experienced the exact same setup, with different sized subs. Kicker ZX2500.1, 2 Q18's, sealed and ported.

It worked well with the electrical I described. As for enclosure, I recommend 3.5-4cubes NET each, tuned to 33hz, with around 30-45 square inches of port each.

Thank you for the quick reply nG, I was planning on either 2 yellow tops or a kinetic 1400 or 1800s 1 front and 1 back. But the batteries can always be changed up. Glad to hear I won't need a higher alternator though. so 4 cubes net each and 45 square port inches, Thanks for the tips //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif Rough measurements (which I've forgotten, gotta measure again) say I can get a good 12 ft^3 gross out of it, so this should be sufficient, yes?

Also wondering whether I'd be better off going with the Qs or the BLs? BTLs are out of the question due to price / space / power / everything else. haha, but the Qs and BLs are similarly priced and am just wondering. I'm thinking the Qs over the BLs cause I hear they still get really loud but maintain a cleaner bass than the BLs. Also I don't see anyone on any forums really buying BLs, so Not to sure.

Thanks!

If you can afford an HO alternator, it is well worth it in the long run. Not essential right away... but worthwhile investment.

8cubes NET @ 90 square inches of port, will wang.

I would HIGHLY recommend the Q's...

Ok Cool thanks for all the help nG. I will eventually step up to a 200 or 240amp alt, but probably not for another 3-6 months after I get my system. I could get one at the same time, but the amp would have to be cut down //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/confused.gif.e820e0216602db4765798ac39d28caa9.gif. As long as I could keep my stuff on with the 160a alternator in there atm It's fine. I don't normally drive with a/c on, almost never. I'm a windows down kinda guy, and the weather in Miami generally allows it, except when it's raining.

And the Qs it is, that's what I was planning on but just figured I'd toss out the question

again, Many thanks nG!

This isn't really the thread to ask this question in but didn't feel like polluting the boards with another thread :p

What's a good place to buy wiring? I'm planning on doing the big 3 in 1/0 gauge, is this the best size to do it in? Also, what size wire should I be running everywhere else? I heard Knu wires were cheap and worked fine, but don't know which wires to use? :X

Thanks!

1/0 for all you power and ground.
Knu is probably the best for the price, I'd get the FLEKS cable... if you want cheaper you can go with the KLM.

nG
Thanks for the speedy reply, the FLEKS is definitly within price so that's no problem. How much do you think I'd need? 50feet seems like too much IMO, but I've never really done a full installation so not sure.

I'm not fully familiar with your alternator and battery location...

I'd say 35feet of power, and 20 feet of ground would be PLENTY. I always like to order more than enough, to make sure I have plenty to route the wire where I like it, tucked away, and out of the way.

Alright cool thanks a lot for the help nG, if anything I'll take some rough measure with string before I order the wire //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
