Electrical Question?

Hey Guys. Quick question. I'm probably getting a system fairly soon and really considering The Soundtream TR1600.2 or the TR2000. Will I be required to upgrade my electrical system? Get a new Alternator or something? Do you recommend using a Capacitor? I'm also gonna have another Soundtream amp probably around 3-400 watts for the components.

Which one would you go with to push a single 12" RE XXX. TR1600.2 Bridged or the TR2000. I think the 2000 is like $200 more.

I have a 2000 Acura TL

Thanks!!!!!

Actually, I just looked on this website:

http://www.woofersetc.com/subcatmfgprod.asp?0=470&1=471&2=1078&6=2

and the 2000 is priced at over $2000 and the TR1600.2 is $689. Why is the 2000 so much more money? It's only 400 watts more correct? I mean if you Bridge the TR1600.2 it's 1600 watts at 4 ohms and the TR2000 is 2000 watts at 4 ohms. Am I missing something here? Is it because it has a few more features on it? I'm pretty sure I saw this same amp brand new on ebay for $850 or something.

Sorry, a little of topic.

It sounds like this will be a first system in your car. The way I see it you should start w/ Big3. That little upgrade is so easily overlooked and solves so many probs. I am also a fan of running two batteries. But based on your car, you dont have alot of room for an extra battery so you may need a slightly larger alt. Hook the system up first and then go from there. Capacitor. Capacitors are "band-aid's". Some like 'em others dont. I straddle the fence on that one.

Thanks Einzee,

No, not my first system. This will actually be my 3rd system. But it is defintely the biggest system by far. My last system I had a Soundstream Reference 700s and 2-12 XPL's. There was no need to upgrade the electrical system for that even though it was a pretty powerful system. I just wanted to know all the objectives involved to reach my goal for this system. I figured I would need to do something running that kind of power but I was hoping that since the Soundstream Amps draw less current(4 ohms) that maybe I could get away with leaving the electrical system the way it is and just get a capacitor?
