Electrical Properties of Preamp Outputs

Hi -

What I'm trying to do is hook some LED's up to my head unit and have them pulse with the music. I currently don't have a subwoofer + amp, so I figured if I used the subwoofer preamp outputs, I could just splice an RCA cable to deliver power as needed - and the voltage would drop/hit 2V as the low frequencies hit (per my LPF)...

What I'm wondering is - my head unit puts out 17w RMS, 52w Peak - do I need to worry that all this power is also coming from the preamp outs, and get current limiting resistors to dissipate the 52 peak watts??

Thanks,

Anthony
