electrical idea...

OK... I did a little looking around and I came up with an idea for running 12v/16v system and was wondering what you'all think...

1. It all starts with a 300A Iraggi alt.

2. I get one of these to step it up to charge a 16V battery: http://www.batteriesareus.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&products_id=366

3. Kinetik HC16V under the hood (12V terminal to run the vehicle)

4. Power Master D1000 in the trunk

5. if it would be worth another $100... Power Acoustik CapCell-600

http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_13507_Power+Acoustik+CAPCELL-600.html

Probably a little overkill for a single XXX-6500D and an APX-18 but i want ot be able to run the amp at .35ohm when i get metered. Plus this way i KNOW the voltage would not drop enough to harm the amp as they can run 11V-17V... plus MORE POWER! that would give me around 5000W rms at 1.5ohm (1.5ohm QVC sub)

WHAT DO YOU THINK?

Scratch the power acoustik p.o.s. And no its not overkill really. Those amps are power hungry and dont really start pumpin power until they get a good amount of voltage. Other than that sounds good.

Dont think that is really going to work for you. Wont keep the voltage up at all. The xxx **** alot of juice and will bring your voltage down fast. I cant see that setup really working at all. Im not sure and some one can correct me but That stepup box I cant see allowing all the charging amps to get to the battery good enough to keep up with the system..A 16volt batt is going to need 18volts to charge it...

What exactly is that power acoustic thing? Its not a battery... ?

Its a batcap kindof thing. I been looking at them too. Along with the scell-1000 from soundstream...

Another thing. Is I cant see you getting alot of power out of the amp with just one battery....

Say. Get a Big Alt with externally regulated. Get a step down box, Run a normal 12volt batt in the front. Then get a few 16 volt batts in the back.

Well good luck. Just dont see it working that way. Voltage my be good but amps wont be. Pretty sure that setup regulater that your looking at is for racing applications not car audio.

After talking ot Matt (MechMan) i am going with one of his 250A alts (150a at idle) and then going with a pair of HC2400's....

Gonna keep it a little more simple and about $400 cheaper...

That system will work fine, EXCEPT for the 3 post kinetik battery. Charging at 16V will cause the extra 16V sell on the end of the battery to swell, and eventually explode. (I know from expierience)

Instead, just run a D1000 front and rear, and a Powermaster 993 step down box to power the vehicle.

Otherwise, you will be very happy with the extra juice from going 16V.

PS, I can sell you that exact same regulator for $75 shipped.

That box is a setup box. 12 volt to 16volt. So hes charging with a 12volt alt.

No, with that voltage regulator the alt will be charging at 16 or whatever he sets it too. I would just do what mechman said.

thats what Im saying. Its a 12volt alt with a box that can go from 16-up...

Better question. Why you wanna do this. Do you compete. Are you going for any world records. How many shows do you hit up during the year... Seem like a waste of money and time just to go higher in voltage.
