Electrical Discharge

I noticed today that when I got out of my car twice, I got electrical shock when I grabbed the door to close it. Does anybody think that I might have a short somewhere inside or is it just me getting the charge from the carpet?

my civic does it too, as did my accord before that and my ghetto accord before that. Must be a grounding issue in all honda's.

well i would say that the colder it gets out the less humid the air is and that helps build static in vehicles--but since you live in LA--i don't know man.

There are "static straps" that you can hang from your car's frame. They touch the earth when you stop and supposedly helps discharge the static so people don't get zapped. Here's one:

I had the same problem of grounding with my 93 civic. I noticed today that the grounding was becoming loose. Seems that the guy at the install shop didn't use the appropriate grounding loop ring for the grounding wires. Got some #6 gauge grounding rings & that did the trick!

 

I will also look into the static straps. That is a good idea.
