In this El Camino the spare tire ate up most of the area, as it was a full size spare (although not the same as the wider tires that are on it) The box we built was a tad bit on the large side but sounds pretty smooth on the lows. Only issue I could see in building a small box for that area is finding a way that looked good where you could move it easily to get to the spare without having to worry about the box falling down when you stopped.Hey i have a 1987 el camino, and want to put in a RE SE 12 inch in the smugglers box. Is there any way possible i could get the dimensions of your build? I only want to take up half of the space because i want a spare tire, so i would cut your dimensions in half basically. Thanks
Only measurements I remember is the part that goes inside the spare tire well is 7.5" tall (6" after you subtract for the wood) and the rings we used are .5" and .75" glued together then we made stands to bring the depth 4.25" so the frame didn't go into the box. Thing is we had to bolt this box in so it wouldnt slide.Im not all that interested in the appearance, i just want to be able to have a decent sized box with some good bass from a single RE SE 12"
If i have a problem with the box moving around, il make a bracket that will hold it in place.

That's basically what I need the specs of, if you happen to have them, if not no big deal, thanks.
