ill do that computerman.
nother quick shot. i got some U shaped grommet **** that those cheesy people put on the edges of their doors and crap from pepboys. works well, has a bead of gooey **** to keep it in place. not the nicest thing ever, but looks a hell of a lot better than jigsawed doors lawl

and thanks for the compliments everyone. so now you all know you can fit ~3" deep by 8" diamater midbass in volkswagon 2002~2005 golf\jetta\gti
yea but can ya do it in an explorer, thats the real question

I would do that. but I want the car back to stock when i trade her in for a new VW

now i have to hear it.

Req. im off on the 15th and 16th . i think that was in your timeframe.

get your ass down here.

my plans for now is getting a dls amp for the factory mids... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/naughty.gif.94359f346c0f1259df8038d60b41863e.gif

****, only 2.95 inches?! I just installed the 7" power line CS woofers in my doors and they are 3.75 inches deep //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif Had to raise them off the doors 1.25" with MDF rings to make them fit in the doors of my '99 camry.

Your install looks clean man, nice job. I used liqud nails to seal up the gaps between the MDF rings and my doors - i don't think the non hardening clay stuff would handle the temps in my car in FL. Thx for the tip //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

i figure, if i modify this, i will have it for quite a few years down the road. prolly like 150k miles at least. so im not too worried about $300 worth of door panels in 5 years. but we shall see, the 15th or 16th is when i plan on leaving, so ill make sure i contact you before i leave... you better have a RTA handy... i left mine in VA //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif

but thanks for the compliments guys. when i get my camrea cord ill make sure i get better photos to you all.

i do //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif thanks to GCaddidas13 and his old doorpods.

yours look very nice with little modification. I bet they sound great. 31.5hz is pretty **** low. w/ that x-over point, i bet they anchor your bass from the IDQ15s right up front (you're still running them right?).

too bad you're all the way in the east coast. I could use your RTA skills. I currently have no EQ tuning, but it still sounds great w/ t-corr and x-over settings only.

here's and old pic

give me some material i will enjoy for my 10 hour drive home next monday!

yea i definatly would have to get kinky if i wanted to make a sealed enlcosure. i got like .2" of room behind the driver to the window lol. and sealed pods in a new stang is cheating. they come with stock sealed pods you jerk!

jealousy slowly setting in...

hey req, are those 8's acting as both your midbass and midrange?

i was assuming it was a 3-way system and those took over the midbass and you had a different set of speakers covering the upper freqs. am i wrong in assuming this?

Meh, I'll be doing 10's in the doors. Step it up next time. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/tongue.gif.6130eb82179565f6db8d26d6001dcd24.gif

They look pretty sweet. How are the doors holding up? From that wonderful cell pic I can't tell if you've deadened at all, but to the rattle the **** out of everything?

actually the doors have very minimal rattle. the inner door skin is a 1\8 inch thick piece of solid alu with almost no holes in it. the small ones that were there i covered with aluminum tape. (talking like four 1\2" holes in random spots). and this piece of aluminum is bolted to the inner door frame that connects to the hinges. all the way round the seal from the aluminum to the steel is a rubber grommet between the two pieces of metal.

its quite a solid ****in door. door handles on the outside rattle, and the door locking mechinism rattles a little. ill see what i can do about it but im sure not much.

and george, the horns play (as of today) from 1.2khz@30db to 17khz@12db, and the mids play from 31.5hz@18db to 1.2khz@24db. so yes, they do play the bottom octaves of the midrange. but the horns take most of it for them. active 2 way for the win.

actually, i should be able to use my sisters phone to get some better pics. ill put some up here if i can.
