eights in your doors? whos got em.

exactry. if you want, i can do a detailed worklog of how to properly deaden extremly simple door panels...

would that help you at all buddy? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

and what music should i get to listen to??

you do realize i made half of those pods right? //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
small freakin world.

Is there a reason why you have your horns drop off @ 17khz? i currently have mine left flat after being HP @ 750hz (iirc)

because honestly you dont hear much in that range. i read something about it somewhere and i THINK it sounds good. give it a try. its a very shallow slope. not like you can really hear any timbre that high anyway.

i plan on getting a cheap pair of conventional silk domes (well, ill test this with my current stock ones) tweeters up on the sails, and crossing them from 17khz up. this will effectivly raise the soundstage without having any weird effects on the musics. its a little cheating method to raise height and widen the stage. but dont tell anyone i told you //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

interesting. I might give that a try, but adding tweets means another amp w/ 2 more channels.

I also don't think my ears are experienced enough to noticed differences from 17khz+. I'll do some adjustments tomorrow and see how it goes.

Have you tried to fit full bodies under there yet?

yup. the motor mounting on the top of the lens versus the side is the difference in the fulls fitting. if i could aquire some full bodies that mounted the drivers sideways like the mini lens, then they would fit no problem.

too bad for me //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/frown.gif.a3531fa0534503350665a1e957861287.gif

i need some more music tho.

i dont think so. the issue is on the passanger side, where the driver would mount, the AC blower box is right in the way. unless i got the balls to take apart my dash, cut a hole in the blower box, fab some shit around it and then reinstall the fullbodies, i dont think its going to happen unless the driver is mounted in a different way.

it might be closer with a neo motor. but i dont think it would make a difference.

wtf does that mean.

go find me some mesh grills. there were some dynaudio ones on ebay. but im not paying 50 god **** dollars for some mesh 8" circles.

i dont want them to be "waffle" style eaither.

or you can customize some full bodies so the motors can be mounted on the back and not the top. Jeremy @ ID is doing that. w/ your FB skills i don't see why you can't.

music? what genre do you listen to?

Due to the stunning efficiency of horns, and the dispersion pattern laid out by the shape of the horn itself, they work best off-axis. Those horns (the ID's and a couple others) actually have the mouth of the horn contoured to disperse a great portion of the sound to the opposite side of the vehicle, one of the reaasons they excel at staging/imaging.
But, this also means they are not meant to be aimed straight at you. The big name horn guys will all tell you these days, the best place for horns is down under the dash, as far back against the firewall as possible (yes, out of sight even, if possible) and as far to either side as possible.

Several years ago I even saw (in a mag) an Impala SS with horns installed under the seat, firing up through your legs AT the dash. I dont think Id recommend trying this however.

cliff notes : horns = off-axis
What about in a truck where your knees are very very close to the dash.

my knees arent close to the dash in a truck.

are you a grandmah?

ucp. find me some 8" speaker grills!!! puhLEESE! seriously, i have a list of shit that i would pay you for easycakes if you could get it for me.
