Ed's New Sub Vid

you can see the surround collapsing.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crap.gif.7f4dd41e3e9b23fbd170a1ee6f65cecc.gif
you're an idiot.

like others have stated, the "dimpling" of the surround doesn't affect performance in any way, so STFU.

anyways, we'll see when it comes out. i'm optimistic.

It's due to the high roll surround. Any subwoofer using a high roll surround (IDMax, for example) is going to have that.
It has no affect on performance for subwoofers.
It may not have a direct effect on performance on the subwoofer out of the box, but dimples on the surround means that the profile of the surround is not optimal for the flexing it is put through. which means that overtime it will have an effect on how long the sub will last... as time goes by some dimples will deteriorate more than others and will cause the cone to travel unevenly.

Clearly these people are not doing any FEA on their components. Just buying off-the-shelf parts or tooling up pretty-looking shapes... hence the spectacular prices //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/veryhappy.gif.fec4fed33b4a1279cf10bdd45a039dae.gif

The basket looks alot like the jl w7/w6 baskets.
so is their integrated ventilation system which is a direct rip-off of JL's patented elevated frame.

theyre doing a great job at copying other people's work ill give them credit for that. .//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/yumyum.gif.0556df42231b304b9c995aefd13928a8.gif

Not true at all. If it were unplanned, yes, it could be a problem, but thats something thats expected with the design of ANY high profile surround designed for very long excursion. When properly made, they arent any less reliable than a half roll surround that doesn't exhibit the same behavior.

Gotta love some of this idle speculation which isn't based on anything factual. I understand many people don't like ED, but there isn't a whole lot of rational thinking, nor is there much fact, floating around in this thread.

It's rather early to make ANY sort of speculation about performance or reliability, considering that the driver is still in the prototype phases, and could easily vary somewhat before it's actually released anyway.

By no means am I trying to hype this product up, as I said already, speculation in EITHER direction isn't warranted, so I fail to see the point in doing so.

wow, you obvious don't know shit and you start speaking...

cus if u knew anything, or if you actually tried to purchased 2 19Ov2 like i did, then you'd know there WAS a pre-production sale on the 19Ov2
Like Warbleed just noted, there aren't many facts in this thread. I just want to reinforce the idea that my post is factual. There never ever was a pre- production sale on the 19O.

You may have tried to place an order for one before they were in stock, but they didn't have any sort of 'order now, recieve 5 months later at a cheap price' type of offer going. You are not only incorrect, but you are an ******* about it too.

Grow the **** up!

ya we are talking years upon years dude... every woofer, speaker, amp will all fail at one point...

It's exciting to see any company produce an ultra-excursion woofer, in my opinion.

I'd watch the video with the same interest if it was Dual, Audiobahn, Sony, or Focal.

Hooray for big woofers, of any make and model.

Ben custom-tooled ****ing everything for the Av.2. The basket design belongs to eD along with almost every other part for that woofer. That's why it has taken him so long.
