edead or fatmat?

FatMat worked just fine for me... Just used some degreaser to clean her all up, let it dry adn stuck the shit on there... It will NOT come off as of yet, I had a ground break lose under teh stuff and I had the use a chisel and hammer to get the stuff to come off so i could fix the wire...

Any where in your opinon do the 15 different types of edead fall in to place?
I haven't seen the version that's just been out for a few weeks. IMO, the original asphalt eDeads would be alongside FatMat and the butyl/Mylar ²versions would be just above FatMat.

As to other brands, R-Blox and Sound Destroyer would be below FatMat becasue they are asphalt with Mylar facings.

B-Quiet Extreme would be alongside FatMat (as would Peel & Seal).

B-Quiet Ultimate would be alongside RAAMmat.

Hushmat would be in the space between Dynamat Xtreme and RAAMmat - the adhesive is pretty good, but the foil is too thin to be at the top.

Can't think of any others offhand.

If it was that hard, it probably means that all of the VOCs had out-gassed. Good for not falling off, even worse for vibration damping.

That's something I dont think gets discussed much here. Asphalt mat tends to dry out and get hard, which said above is counter productive to its intended application. Heck I remember buying some dynamat (original) that was already drying out on the edges just from sitting on the shelf. I didn't know any better back then, I just figured a little extra heat to soften it back up and good as new. Oh yeah... over heating the asphalt mat while applying it hurts its lifespan as well. No heat required (or wanted) when applying butyl mat, so no step to possibly screw up and damage the product.

it's all good, we've been there

Hell I used to think JL was THE SHIT.

And tried to run 2 different types of subwoofer in my car.

I figured same company/size was fine, just mismatching them was fine

i am curious in b-quiet extreme can get 100sq feet of that and fatmatt for the same price, compared to only 62 sq ft of rammat for the same price all around 130 shipped

i figure b-quiet is better than fatmat right??

I have Dynamat Extreme on my roof and the rear wall of my truck. The DMX is some great stuff, the only problem I had was cutting several fingers during installation. I used dynamat extreme and eDead on my doors and the edead seems to stick well. So far no problems.

Both B-Quiet Xtreme and FatMat are asphalt. There's no reason to believe that one is better than the other. There are plenty of reasons why NEITHER should ever be used in a car.

It cuts your fingers because the foil is thick - a critical component for performance. All of the best products use heavy foil. Using a roller to press the edges down should solve the problem.

Just to clarify, the FatMat wasn't hard. I just couldn't pulle the stuff off by hand so i cut a little square qith a razor blade adn then got the chisel under there and hammered it a bit until the 2" X 2" piece i needed came off. i was pulling and pulling with pliers but it pretty much just stretched out a bit then i couldn't keep the pliers on there...

I know the majority of people on here hate the stuff but as of yet i have not had any issues and it was 1/10th the price of DynoMat...
