it is 1* here (wind chill of -21*) I will go throw some FatMat on a piece of plexi and leave it outside all winter long and see what happens. I'll throw it on there this week, I leave for Basic Training/AIT Jan. 8th and get back in July sometime and see what we got...

Sounds like a plan, and one of the first smart comments here. Maybe we could test how much FatMat it takes to equal the dampening of Dynamat Xtream and actually get to the bottom of this, well except for the constancy problem, I don't really want to be buying 50 boxes of Dynamat just to find out.

Oh and you guys need to shop around, I paid $50 for my bulk pack of Dynamat Extreme.

I'm not arguing with anyone... I got what i got, it works for me... that is all...
HOWEVER as for the price, DynoMat was like $199.98 fr a 20sq.ft. "trunk kit" here. I got 100sq.ft. for about $110 shipped. that is 5X the mat for 1/2 the price therefore 10X cheaper... I KNOW THAT IS DYNAMAT AND THTA SHIT IS EXPENSIVE but that is all thta is available localy. At the time i was ona tight budget, had i had more money i would have went with something else. I already said i got teh FatMat becuase it was dirt cheap but like i ssid i have no complaints so....

FATMAT SUCKS!!! IT IS A COMPLETE WASTE OF MONEY!!! ALUMINUM FOIL AND RUBBER CEMENT WOULD DO A BETTER JOB THAN FATMAT!!!

You obviously feel like I am picking on you. That is not my intention. It is my intention however to understand your comparison better. I think I do now. You are not only comparing to the most expensive butyl mat brand there is, you are also comparing buying it LOCAL versus buying the asphalt ONLINE. If you do not see the flaw in that comparison, then I dont know what else to say to you. Apples and oranges.
I think the truth is what I already predicted, that you are stacking in the deck in your favor in order to make yourself feel better about your purchase.

Once again I state, Dynamat is NOT 10x the price of fatmat.

Maybe we could just top, once and for all, comparing the two? They are clearly not capable of the same thing....not even in multiple layers. About the only thing they have in common is that they kinda look the same in appearance. Of course, if you've bought into the whole mass loading misconception, then I suppose dreams can come true. Just gotta find the people getting out of car audio, or the people with to much stuff.

Snagged a 300amp EA ford alt, a kicker zx1500.1, batt terminals, the DE bulk pack and 20' of 1/0 for $550, he was going to give me his prefab box that his L7's were in but I didn't have any use for it.
