On bigger designs, the skew is much higher and favors DIY.$460-$480 is the cost on the pair so far IIRC...
So if I put 10 hours in building them (conservative estimate at best) $15 * 10 = $150
$480+150= $630
A pair of B&W 685 is $650... So, yea...
I could defiantly see how that could be.On bigger designs, the skew is much higher and favors DIY.
An extreme example. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
This speaker is technically commercial, but Rick is a DIY'er, and offering
good stuff for the money.

$10,995 / pair
If this was a product from a well established big name in audio,
they'd charge you $50k - $75k no problem. The might even throw in
a sub. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
DIY driver cost? ~$4k - $5k .. DIY wins big here if you can execute the build.
Go for 3 way loudspeaker, active electronics //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gifNow on to the EC-S2 and the EC-S3... //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/woot.gif.aaa6090e619a97b6090d16dd863c5a69.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
I'm thinking a larger box dual mid/woofer 2.5 way design and a 3 way floorstander. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Meh... I doubt I'll ever build a Line Array...
For some reason, so do I...Meh... I doubt I'll ever build a Line Array...
Rick is in cyber all the time. If I didn't DIY, he's one of just a few peopleI have considered the selah audio route with the parts only approach. Has anyone else tried it.
