Dual Amp Question.

I have 2 10 inch subwoofers in a sealed enclosure. I want to power them using 2 identical 2 channel bridgeable amps. What are my options?

If you are implying that 2 2-channel amps will always have more power than one single-channel amp you are wrong. It just depends what amp you get. If you list what subs you have then someone can suggest an amp for them.

What would be wrong with sending 400 watts from one amp to one speaker and 400 watts from the other amp to the other speaker? I ask because I have the amps and do you know what an 800X1 @4 costs? Thats why Im asking.

You guys may think this is retarded but I see pictures here all the time with like 8 amps powering 20 subs and stuff like that.

Also what determines if an amp is strapable?

Im implying that two 400 watt amps have more power than one 400 watt amp.

if they are 4 ohm subs, you would need an 800x1 @2 ohms, not at 4. And yeah, I know what they cost. They arent that much. you can pick up a alpine 850 (800@2 ohm) for 235 in the classifieds... I sold a 900x1@2 ohm amp for less than 150 a couple days ago. BNIB...

you can do better than 2 bridged amps, and probably cheaper too

1 amp=less current. What subs do you have, and what is your budget. For someone that has been on the forum for over a year, I would expect you to know a lot more than what you are implying.

I can't wire my subs 2 ohms. Either 4 or 1. There is no question here about comparing costs. I have the subs and I have the 2, 400 Watt amps. So My cost is ZERO compared to anything else.

Yes in the year I have been here I have spent a lot of money and learned a lot but I dont know everything. FOR EXAMPLE what I don't know is if its acceptable to wire my 2 amps to my 2 subs. If its not acceptable then tell me that. If it is acceptable then tell me how to do it. One per sub or strap them.
