Doubling my system

Only you can answer that question. Dbs are relative so a jump from 100 to a 103 is different than a jump from 150 to 153. What is considered loud to you? Do you have the knowledge, time and resources to do it yourself or are you paying someone? What equipment do you have now?
Just an fyi it takes a 10db increase to "double" the loudness.
Isnt every +3db = 2x as loud

might of misread somewhere but this is what i have been going by

That's a thought, but with a 15 how is the responce comparied to the 12?? I listen to all types of music but mostly R&B and hip hop. I've always heard that a 15's responce doesn't keep up with the faster say kick drums found in the older rock.
That is a common myth. A 15 will keep up just fine.

And also double power/speakers = 3 db increase in theory at least. But to double "loudness" is 10dbs.

15" RL-P will keep up with 80's metal kicks no problem. I ran 2 of them in ported boxes at 32Hz and they sounded amazing. You will just have MORE of the good sound you like from the 12

Can you add rear fill to your car? If done right it can enhance your front stage without pulling it back, and give you more volume up front. Might be easier than adding a second set of comps up front and you really don't want 2 sets of tweeters up front, only a 2nd set of mids...

so say you have 1 10" subit would take almost 8 of the same 10" subs to get 2x as loud... I think you have a miscalculation or i am crazy.

your saying 150db is only 2x as loud as 140 db
decibels are measured on a logarithmic scale.

10 dB's= twice as loud.

as far as increases in spl by doubling woofers it's only 3dB gains in theory.

there are alot of variables obviously.

In my truck I'm just running the stock rear door speakers ('06 chevy colorado extended cab) off of the head unit. So would you recommend an after market set of say two ways or something else??
