Door Pod ideas

Then I'm going to make some predictions here based on my experience with projects like this:
You probably wouldn't buy the tools necessary to do a good job. You probably wouldn't do practice runs to get better before doing your own panels. You probably don't have the patience or detail-orientation to make it look right.

Net result - ghetto-lookin' install.

Don't take that personal - it's a tough project & very few ppl can do it well.

Just surface mount them on the bottom of the panel & cut into the door. It's simple & easy.

Im not taking it personal. But how do you know this?

I don't. I'm assuming & may be wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/blackeye.gif.66a1670f5aaf7f406e783a63e3387dc5.gif

It's based on the idea that if you were truly focused on doing a great job you'd look for as much instruction as possible before taking on a tough project.

It's like doing fiberglass - your first few projects teach you what to do differently. It's an art more than a science & there's a definite learning curve.

Good luck! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

"My bass hits so hard it turns my car off" - Hahahaha, great sig.

yeah thanks for the help i understand what your saying but i just dont feel like paying 50 dollars when i can do some research on the internet and come up with the same things. Thank you i appreciate the help.

i can see two locations for custom pods on them doors. one is where the grill is at and the more difficult one is where the carpet is at.

if you chose to place the speaker on the stock grilled location it wont be a difficult install at all,

you'll just need to get your creative side out and come up with a cool design and first of all get familiar with the fiberglass, how it works how to mix it how to make it so it doesn't cure in a second and how to make it thicker how to get it smooth how to, how to how to.

i suggest making a trim using the current grill as a template. then two rings one for mounting one for flush mounting the speakers. make sure you make it big enough to fit the grill that came with the new speakers. then mount the the speaker rings to the trim you made out of the stock grill, you can use hot glue or ca glue to get the rings attached to the trim. possibly in two points so that the rings are at an angle facing to a sweet point in the car.

once you have them two pieces solidly attached to each other. now you can grab some fabric be it the easily accessible cotton t shirt , then ca glue or staple the fabric around the trim and covering the speaker ring at the same time making sure that the fabric is nice and tight around the rings and the trim, now youre ready to lay some resin. just one layer, then once thats cured you can do another layer of resin. then start applying the fiberglass from the back of the fabric till you get enough layers to make it nice and solid then you can add some filler to the front. and sand it smooth. once thats perfect. you can ither paint it or cover it with matching vinyl.

one, pm me about getting the video from us.

two, what i meant was i'm uber glad that i no longer have any green left in my interior- it's all either fiberglass, new vinyl, or from a navigator and black

How can you know this without knowing the person? Answer: You can't. You're just pissed because he's not taking your advice.

First off, you don't need practice runs to have a succesful first time. These panels were my first fiberglass project and they turned out absolutly perfect.

Second, there is loads and loads of great info all over the net and in libraries - there is no need to purchase a $45, waaaay over priced DVD. Not everyone can afford to waste their money that way.

And you're not going to gain patience or detail-orientation by watching a fvcking DVD. Those are skills you're either born with or gain through practice.

Then I'm going to make some predictions here based on my experience with projects like this:
So you tried it without watching the DVD first and fvcked up or what? Lol.

The higher up the better. I say put them were the existing grill is.
that is what im gonna do. thanks
