My life be like....
Im going to be fiberglassing some 6.5 mids in my doors. and i just wanted to see some ideas on the placement. I was thinking maybe putting it where the existing speaker was so it would avoid being kicked but i dunno. Anyone have any ideas?

Here are some pics:

Yeah. So surface mount them & integrate the surface mount ring into the door panel with plastic body filler & texture, should be pretty sweet. Is that possible for you?

Auto body supply. Same for texture & matching paint. You ever done this? Not exactly beginner stuff. I'd recommend doing an experimental project on some scrapyard door panels first, the learning curve is pretty tall.

Then I'm going to make some predictions here based on my experience with projects like this:

You probably wouldn't buy the tools necessary to do a good job. You probably wouldn't do practice runs to get better before doing your own panels. You probably don't have the patience or detail-orientation to make it look right.

Net result - ghetto-lookin' install.

Don't take that personal - it's a tough project & very few ppl can do it well.

Just surface mount them on the bottom of the panel & cut into the door. It's simple & easy.
