What is the point of building the baffel? I'm new to all this stuff and see a lot of guys doing it. Is it for sound quality purposes or what?
Using baffles is 2 fold for me. I needed to space out my speaker since my aftermarket speakers are much deeper than the stock speakers were. Next, speakers mounted straight to metal is not a good idea. Metal on metal is usually never a good thing. So to help absorb the vibrations many people use a baffle made out of some composite, fiberglass or for us cheap skates we use MDF.What is the point of building the baffel? Some people use other woods but I like to use MDF eventhough there is a sticker on the board that says that CAlifornia believes this material causes cancer but they still sell it! //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif
Simek4Life: Please read entire thread before commenting.... I already stated on an earlier post that I had made the spacers months ago and now I want to enclose the area as well as I can so I am remaking baffles this Sat..I decided to continue the build this Sat. and build some baffles that will cover the stock 5 x 7 hole. Then I will know that I have done my best to totally enclose the door and deaden it.
