Door panel deadening build with photos!

I bought a set of Hertz Mlk comps and I needed to add another 3/4 inch mdf spacer. Then I added Raamat to the inside of the doors as much as I could. Then I added the egg crate backing. Then I deadened the door as much as I could. I am waiting and should recieve the comps Tuesday. Here is the build so far.....

My roommate has them and I've had plenty of ear time with them //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif. Make sure your door doesnt get water in them becauase those MDF rings will expand, mold, and crack... I prefer using birch or those thick plastic mats.

Word... You should use thin birch, or sheet metal to cover it.... Some don't which is fine but you can even use cardboard and cover both sides with deader.

treat those baffles or they may only last a couple weeks.

It looks like you didn't make the baffles big enough to cover that 6x9 hole.

he doesn't really have to make it big enough to cover up the hole.... just as long as he seals is all around...

a great way to do that is to build the baffle to cover the hole....

This is not a perfect build as I have only a carport and very limited space to work. I did what I could to help the speakers perform better. I had to cut a few corners but I wont have any rattles and the doors is sealed up pretty well. Thx for everyones input!

seal up the holes directly around the speakers or you'll lose midbass response in a major way

I will remove the spacers and then add another layer of Raamat. Then I will screw the spacers over the raamat. That should give it a pretty good seal.

I almost went with the HSK's but I dont want to do this again for a long while so I bit the bullet and bought the higher line MLK's. Hopefully it will be worth it!
