donpisto's '01 Accord Build Log (Alpine, Zapco, TC Sounds)

My shocks seemed to have been giving out, at least they made squeaking noises time to time. Plus I had the whole boat ride going on so I bought a Megan Racing coil over damper suspension kit. The strut bar is also from Megan Racing and they didn't have the gun metal but had red so I was gonna go with that, but it turned out it was broken so I get the gun metal in about a week. My alignment was a bit off before and i can tell a big difference now, but it's still drivable and will get fixed next week as well.

I dropped it about 2.5" and it rides nicely and handling has GREATLY improved. Anyhow, here are before and after pictures.

I plan to take the tail lights out and put something else on. I sorta don't like the one's I have anymore and they are looking a bit more "ricer" with the lowered car. I would like suggestions as to which of these two I should go with. I like the red, but then again, I will be getting tint so the black may match that along with the dark green of the car. Thoughts?

Or I can do these if the LED's will be too much. If I go with these, would them being blackced out look better?

meh, I don't like any of those tailights you are suggesting. Only way not to go rice is to go stock. At least that's how this forum tells it. I say keep what you have right now. But if you don't like it then look around for some other tailights because I don't think your alternatives are looking too great either.

The bottom ones are pretty much stock, only difference is that the stock ones are red on top and clear on the bottom and in the clear area, there is a yellow box for the turn signal..here's a pic of the stock ones.

megan coilovers are pretty decent and that drop is sick, love it. but i will never part from Tein Super Street Dampers, had them for 2 years and still going strong. i have a 2" drop up front, 1.75" in the rear. My suspension is almost done, car handles like a go cart.

Either have the stock ones tinted like I posted a few pages back, or get the bottom ones and have them tinted as well. I like the LEDs, but I don't like when people get LED tailights, then leave their stock 3rd brakelight a regular halogen light. So, if you like the LEDs, get the LED ones in red and have them tinted. It looks MUCH better than black housing/clear lens lights. And if you get the LED ones, make sure you get an LED 3rd brakelight bulb!

PS, since you have the aftermarket lights in, you should send in your headlights to have Acura TSX projectors retrofitted, and then have the housings painted black. Check out this thread for your accord lighting needs: http://www.v6performance.net/forums/showthread.php?t=73848

Some of those places can do your tailights too..

5% on the back and rear side windows, with 35% on the fronts; then some nice gold/bronze 5 spoke rims and your car will be golden!

How much did the Tein run you? Got any pics with an install log or build log or something of your ride?

I'm not going to use a 3rd brake light so need to use //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif I'm just wondering if LED's would be too flashy and if the bulbs are too big and will look awkward. That was another thing I was thinking of, like if I go with the last ones, should I tint the entire thing or just the red part. Another thing is that the LED lights are $100 more and I want to be sure I'm happy with it before I buy, which is tough unless I see one on the street or something.

As for tinting, would it be a light tint on the lights or completely blacked out that you are mentioning?

Yeah I saw a similar thread about retrofitted projectors, but I don't wanna spend that much.
