Does the economy have you nervous?

Maybe it's different for all school districts.
I just know that after you teach at the school for 3 years, they fire you or give you a 10 year contract.

It is a little different. Out here you get "tenure." when that happens, you basically have to break the law to lose your job. The CTA (California teachers assoc) is one of the strongest unions in the state. Tenure is not a 10 year contract, it is basically a contract until you retire.

i have no contract, but they cant really get rid of me. They needed to do that in the first 3 years.

My parents are worried because if that retard obama gets elected, they will be paying 60% income taxes to support those ****ing lazy asss poor mutha ****as
this just goes two things - you are young and you are stupid.

I will propose one question to you... How do you offset a $600 Billion Dollar deficit?

A. Give more tax breaks to wealthy 10% of American's?

B. Give more tax breaks to big business's?

C. Stay in a War that is costing $150+ Billion Dollar a year?

D. Elect someone who vow's to "stay the course" in Iraq no matter how long it takes and plans go to war with Iran?

E. Add $130 million to the defecit by giving tax payers their own money; The American Republic will endure until the day Congress discovers that it can bribe the public with the public's money.

Alexis de Tocqueville

F. Cut federal spending; which over the past 8 years the Republican party has shown they nothing about and will be the worst administration when it comes to fiscal policy.

E. Raise taxes; which by the way is the largest source of income for the US Government; however Bush's tax breaks benefit largely the rich and “[Tax Foundation President] Scott Hodge has been quoted as saying that since most of the AMT returns are being filed in so-called blue states, maybe the rush to fix the AMT isn’t as urgent from a Republican perspective as some people think it should be,” said William Ahern, the Tax Foundation’s director of communications.

I will say one more thing; educate yourself, by YOUR SELF. To blindly believe even what your parents say that "obama is an idiot cause he will raise taxes to give the poor lazy @ss mfer's" just goes to show how ignorant both your mother and father truly are.

No. I literally mean what I said. A very large part of how well an economy is doing is the confidence in it by the citizens. If people don't think an economy is doing well, they begin to make rash decisions that can be unpredictable and usually do not support economic growth. This is what will ultimately bring an economy down. Not the rise in gas prices, but the people's reaction to it.
This is also why despite our economy being on a downturn, President Bush always had positive things to say about it. If he got on TV and said, "We're all fucked", everyone would have panicked and then we would have been fucked for sure.[/QUOTE]

Right, like he did on the battle ship "MISSION COMPLETE!!!" I think that was close to 6 years ago.

Nope, sorry but saying anything otherwise would admit his failure's as a President.

I'm pretty sure it is literally impossible to get as bad as it was.
But yeah, I haven't felt any "impact" of the dwindling economy.
keep believing that, like believing Bush when he says the economy is doing wonderful. It all starts with a recession, which brings on a high rate of inflation, which will ultimately cripple the US - which are all ready experiencing.

I have to start college in the fall. I have enough money (me and only me, not my parents) to get through one semester. I'm going to work my way through college the best I can with my 8 dollar an hour job (seasonal I might add). My parents are going to help me out but I'd like to pay for college as much as I can on my own. Ever since gas went up, I got less money I could spend on my paychecks because of spending $50-70 for two weeks of gas. When you only make $300 every two weeks, it's hard to save for college, pay for gas, and enjoy yourself. Hopefully things will get better with our economy but I'm prepared for the worst.

best of luck to you; there are millions of dollars out there for scholarships. Start by contacting your counselor at school; local business's; state gov't rep's - money is there, you just have to look for it. But much respect to you for trying to take that on yourself, but again look for the scholarships now and get them all lined up.

lol, how many times will you try to have this convo and then be proven wrong. bush is not the problem. guess we need to wait till flip or one of the other people that are better versed on these issues to prove you wrong yet again

Do you think the situation in the middle east has nothing to do with the current cost of oil?

Do you think that President Bush had something to do with the current situation in the middle east?

The main issue with oil prices is global demand retard. China and India are industrializing at an alarming rate creating a huge spike in demand for oil. So when OPEC refuses to increase supply, the price must increase. There are other issues as well, but president Bush does not directly fit into any of them.

the problems with our economy has less to do with the cost of oil and more to do with the weakened value of the american dollar. no i dont think the cost of oil has anything to do with the situation in the middle east. we have it considerably better in terms of cost of gas than many other countries in the world right now. the problem is people want to complain about it and blame some one. why not bush? i mean he's the only person that had anything to do with us going to iraq, It was all bush, and he also controls the price of oil. every day he decides how much it cost, not opec or any other oil producing nation.

If they say it enough, I guess it is true.

Hey, didnt those good folks at Enron say they had nothing to do with the costs that pounded Californians a few years back.

I guess it must have been true.

Nixon also said he wasnt a crook.

flip has made many valid points and has proven his intelligence; you on the other hand have done of the such.

I will agree, Bush is not the TOTAL problem; he's just the head of it.

Incase you missed it the last fews time I have posted this...

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/energy/2008-06-09-saudis-oil-prices_N.htm

Madani said that the kingdom has informed "all oil companies it deals with, as well as countries that consume oil that (the kingdom) is ready to provide them with any additional oil they need."

The kingdom will work to ensure there will be no "unwarranted and unnatural oil price hikes that could affect international economies, especially those of developing countries," Madani said.

"There is no justification for the current rise in prices," he said

So tell me again why there is a "shortage" when the largest producer says they don't know why and they are willing to produce as much as necessary...
