Yes, I had a Viper alarm installed when I bought my most recent car. Not that I really thought it would do much if a would-be thief wanted my ride or the stuff inside it. It was mainly for the discount my insurance company gave. In addition, I also wanted a keyless entry system with remote window control.

An alarm wont stop anyone from stealing something, if they want it they will get it. It will help agenst some thives though. It's worth having one, and tinted windows also help. Another is just don't leave anything in your car that dosen't have to be left in it, and if you have a detachable face take it off.

Yes. After my system passed the $2000 range I knew it was time. I was looking into some Vipers because I knew they were the best. After looking around I found many great alarms with the same lifetime warranty at half the price. I settled on an AutoPage 750LCD. It has alarm,keyless entry,trunk pop and the ever useful remote start. $500 installed. I got this done at a very good time. 1 week after I got it installed my sister, who lives with me, got her deck and CDs stolen. My system was safe. Needless to say after this happened I took off all my brand name stickers (RF,MB Quart,Etc.)

yea, thats just a red flag for stupid people goin for a smash and grab.

I dont have an alarm, besides the stock chrysler alarm, but if i went for an aftermarket one i'd find one that had a cutoff switch for the engine. Meaning the engine wont start unless you hit this switch where you can place it wherever you want, making i unique. And it'd also have a paging system to display messages such as "someones too close to your car for too long" or "Your window was just broken" or shiat ike that
