Do subs need to break in?

Blkon,

Always go higher. I will charge you an arm and a leg to ship my product, but try to understand that bigger is USUALLY better. Dont let your Subs "blow-in-the-wind", but definitely let them breathe a lot. And for Bandpass vs. Enclosure, I am sure anyone with a little exp. under their belt, 9/10 people will agree that sealed is better, SUV to hatches. It depends on what ya got to work with.

Don't lisen to the guy with 8 posts kid. If it's no loud enough for you, go ported. Get someone on here to help you with plans and build a box. If you don't want to build your own, find someone on here who will do it for you or go to a shop and have them do it. Breaking in the sub won't make it any louder, but changing up wour enclosure to a more efficient design (ported) will allow you to get louder with the power you have.

Build a new box, i had my rl-p sealed and it didn't really come alive until i ported it

Also, the only time i would really break a woofer in is if i just got it i would let it play on a test tone for a couple of hours just to make sure no mechanical problems arise with the woofer

Actual t/s parameters only vary slightly, to no real difference after this

I looked at Soundsplinters site and it reccomends a vented enclosure between 1.5-2.0 cu ft with a tuning frequency of 28-34hz.

My question is...is a bigger box better? Or not so much? do I want 1.5cu ft , 1.7cu ft, 2.0cu ft. Im pretty sure I want it to be 32 or 33hz. Just not sure of the size, thats all. What do you guys think?

Just spoke with mike from sound splinter. He said for what I want, that I should get a 2.0 cu. ft box tuned at 30hz with 25 sq. in of vented area. So I ordered that from Klausaudio.com. He said his customers have gotten their boxes and are of good quality and they liked them. Hope it sounds awesome. Thanks for ally our help guys.

i went from like a 1.2 cuft ported tuned at like 45 htz with a 12 cvx to a 2 cuft tuned @35htz with a bit more port area and man did i hear a difference, trust me u wil be happy with a ported box if loud is wat u want.

Good to know, I cant wait for that ported box. The sub and amp are great, I figured out that my back seats basically are stopping 50% of the sound coming through. I folded down that back seats and it was much much better and louder. Those back seats **** huh?
