do i need to upgrade my alterantor and/or battery

I have decided to go with a hifonics brx2400.1 Brutus and series parallel my 2 alpine swr12d2's. That will put out 1400 watts or 700 watts per sub.... will my current electrical system be ok with these numbers? I drive a 2014 Volkswagen Jetta se.

Install it and keep an eye on your voltage, maybe, maybe not youll need one only way to find out is by trying it. For the most part pwople atart HO alts after maybe 1500w thats hifonics only does like 2k rms at 1 ohm And at 2 it probably does 1k clean. So if you set your gains properly and dont clip i dont think youd need amy upgraded electrical

Get a multi-meter on the pos and negative inputs of the amp and check the voltage drop on your hardest hitting song.

It's more of a long term problem than short term.

Short term it should work fine.

Naturally, there will be voltage dips at high demand, but that is to be expected (even HO alt's can't respond instantaneously).

The problem is the overall work load for the alt will be much higher than before - so it will run hotter more often.

That will shorten its life.

How much shorter it will be depends on your listening habits and the initial quality of the alt.

When the stock alt fails - whether that's next month or 5 yrs from now - you can decide at that point if you want to replace it with HO or stock.

I've always gone with stock and just planned to replace it every 18-24 mo. Although my current stock alt is 160A and seems to be holding up well with 1500w of power (but I don't blast it very often).

That is a seriously strong amp. I suggest you get it done by a pro. If you already tried it and it works, it might not be the same after some time. For the electrical system you will observe a slight drop on the voltage when playing in full tilt, but that’s fine.
