Do i need add a 10 or 12 sub to the 8 inch that does not hit low enough????

ok box for the 8 is to specs from Rf! Im running a cheap soundstorm di175 amp with no tuning ability just volume and bass boost and a newer pioneer head unit

im open for the best option i havent made up my mind yet. how do i get what i want with what i already have if thats possible???

The amp can have an affect for sure. So can the settings on that amp.

I would think the enclosure is not 100% correct per what you want to hear though. In most cases the enclosure or amp settings are the real issue.

RF specs normally call for higher tuning.

To make up for there weak output

The P2 are not all the great for subs to be honest. A better amp would help a little, but you will still be limited by the enclosure and the sub itself.

In the most general way to explain it. You have out grown your current setup. This happens a lot in this hobby.

In order to get the most out of your next money spent I would get a better amp and just use a little bit of its power to push your P2. Then pick up a better sub to match your amp. Then create or buy a design and build or buy an enclosure to work for your application.

I wish there was more that could be done but you are limited by your products at this point. Don't get me wrong, an amp and enclosure would help your situation. However, it would only be a bandaid for the situation and you would be back to the " I need more of something" and then be out more money for another upgrade.

ok since im not getting the sound i want, what amp and sub combo would u suggest if i get rid of that setup, and start over?? oh yea i do not want to spend $300 for 1 sub more like $100 range ???

What kind of vehicle do you have to work with?

Also would you build your own enclosure(this would save funds).

If you have an overall budget we could help you out by showing a few options that would fit with in your budget.

i have an 09 chevy malibu huge trunk space! 1 sub set up only ,$300.00 for sub+amp+box and as far as building the box well im not that good with my hands

sorry to say!!!

$300 for sub/amp/box is going to be tough if you can not build the enclosure.

If you could then it would be much easier. Pick up a 12 for around $150-175 or so and an amp to fill in the rest of the budget. However, you would more then likely need to upgrade your wiring as well since you more then likely have 8 gauge or similar. You could do a 4 gauge kit with a good 600rms amp on a single 12 and be good to go. Then just build your own enclosure. You would be around $350-375 though I'm sure. There are a few of us on here that could design an enclosure and help you with "tech support" during your build.

well thanks for all your time i think im going upgrade my amp first, and go from there maybe that will give the sub what it needs to pass my expectations!

what you want to do right now is head on over to the amp section and ask for some advice over there, you don't want to end up with something that does a whole lot worse than what it says it does like most of us have done at least once. If you're going for a big(er) amp and small sub for now, you also want to pick up a dmm and learn how to set gains so you don't just blow up your 8 (unless you already know how to do that).

...but im missing the low freq. though, unless i play rap then it hits low...
That makes no sense. If it will 'hit low' for rap, it should be capable of hitting just as low for any other genre of music that has equally low material in it. If the rock/country you listen to does not have equally low material in it, you cant blame the subwoofer for not playing it.
