i have the following equipement;

kenwood ddx418

2x arc audio ks1000.1

2x image dynamics i2300

2x 10" Alpine type x subwoofers

stinger spv35 *rear battery*

1/0 awg xscorpion wiring

this pretty much all the equipement i can think of. anyways, reason im asking is because i have the kenwood ddx418 with 4volt preout front/rear. i had to use Y-splitter for the ID i2300 meaning splitting the front preout into 2volts each. and now im using 2x arc audio ks1000.1 doing the same thing with the rear preout. also splitting the rear to 2volt with the Y-splitter. im losing lots of volt?

should i use a line driver?

and can someone please tell me what a line driver does?

Yes, point of it being you can plug in all your RCAs and not use any of that y-cable crap. Also it will allow all your preouts to be at like 5V, plus most of them are also crossovers so you can really fine tune ure system

Im actually planning on getting a half-din model one myself soon, so i can raise my preouts from 2V to 5V and its like having an full equalizer at your finger tips. Check em out man, there pretty cool

This thread is terrible.
agreed.... Im sorry OP but you have alot of expensive equipment for someone with questions such as these.

But search google, it will bring up threads from all kinds of car audio forms. Make sure you double check everything your going to do before you power up lmfao

I asked some pretty stupid questions myself 6months ago, so no worries lol

Splitting the RCA signal with a Y cable does NOT cut the voltage in half. The input impedance of those amps is so high that they are very little load on the preout drivers. I wouldn't bother with a line driver unless you can't get the amps to full power without it, but I sincerely doubt you'll have any problems.
