do i need a better ground or what?

Ok here's the deal. I have had my wiring ran for a while for two amps. I only had the one for my highs hooked up for a while. I hooked my sub up finally and have had some problems. First it gave a little feedback. Then the fuse by the battery blew once. The the fuses on the sub amp blew. When I replaced them I got a terrible feeback noise from the sub itself. Kind of like cats fighting. Pretty bad noises. And my sub would kick on and off (would play with the volume down but not up). Then all of the sudden the sub worked consistently until it blew the fuse by the batter again. If it matters I'm running a single pioneer spl 12 @ 1ohm off a viper 1200. Could I just need a better ground? I screwed right into the body of the truck just as I did with the amp for highs. Thanks for any help.

you can test the ground with a ohms meter. you want nothing higher than 3. my friend fried 2 amps because of a bad electrical so that could easily be the problem.

how do u have things wired? do you have a distrubution block? give us a little more details on wiring and ohm configuration

Ok here's what I have. 5gauge power going to a distribution block and then to each amp. Each amp has its own ground which are identical just on opposite sides of the truck. they consist of 8gauge wires screwed down to the bare floor of the truck. The sub is a dvc 2ohm sub that has a single terminal on the box. The pos. from the terminal goes to one vc. The neg. goes to the other vc. Then a wire goes from each vc's pos. and another wire connects the neg. I want to replace the power with 2ohm also. Any other ideas?

upgrade your power and ground wires, run a dist block for the ground split off to each amp
