also, would this work as an ib setup? sealing off the trunk from the car and putting 2 subs facing each other wired out of phase, one with the magnet in the cabin and one in the trunk?

Are you talking about an isobaric infinite baffle? If so, WHY? The whole point of an isobaric setup is to allow the sue of a smaller box. The tradeoff is halved efficiency. If you're going IB you're not really concerned about box volume so why would you half the efficiency of a single and get a quarter that of the pair of drivers that it would take and get nothing in return?

If you are simply talking about mounting one inverted next to the other, then yes it would work fine, just like in a selaed box.
