how far should the distribution fuse block be from the battery or it would matter. because my friend has his block in the trunk. which is like about 10 ft away from the battery

having the block in the trunk is fine - actually better. With the bl;ock in the trunk your amp wires are shorter.

Just make sure he has a fuse in the Main power wire no more than 10" from the battery. This fuse should equal the total of all the fuses in the block.

its fine as long as you (a) put a fuse ont he main power cable as close to the battery as possible (aka 10 inches) and (b) put a fuse on every output of the distro block (unless, of course, you already have a "distro fuse box". -scott
