Dissappointed ... Need some settings help!

Gotta multimeter at radio shack and setup up things perfect! Thanks Dejawiz!!!
On the HU:

sub level at 15

All EQ to 0

LPF 80hz (more accurate than the amps pot with no numbers)

Loudness off

internal amp for speakers off

Volume at approx 75%

On the amp:

LPF all the way up

bass boost 0db

SSF off

Played a 60hz 0db test tone and adjusted the gain to approx 42volts (600 watts at 3 ohms).

The gain pot was really wierd, it would raise the voltage really slowly first 3 quarters of the turn. Then at like 80% it the pot got very steep. It would go from like 38volt to 45volts when I turned it the least I could. If it went above that I would hear the amp click a few times and lights blink. Clipping? Protection mode?

Well, even at 80-90% with a crappy gain pot, I'm glad that my amp will put out advertised wattage.

Bad news is when I went to go hook the sub back up I noticed the rubber surrond that connect with the cone came came off have of it! Is there a way to fix that? Looks like it was just glue holding that on.

I know I wrote a book sorry, just glad to have this resolved, even if I have to buy a new sub.

Thanks for the help everyone!
pics of surround?

Yeah I have a fluke dmm and it was very tough to match the gains on my jl amp...the pots were very sensitive...I would literally move it as small of an increment as I could and it would still jump up alot

No offense, I don't know how they do it in finland, but your really gonna **** this kids shit up if you think the gain should be automatically cranked. If you set it with a sine wave you want to use a dmm, if your going to set it by ear why the **** wouldn't you just use music?
I meant the HU's subgain not the amps. We do the same way here as you do it there, behind the big blue sea.

Anyways, nice to see that the problem is solved.

I'll take some tonight after work, very very Late :stuck:

The top dish like part to the sub is called the cone right?

Looks like 1/2 to 1/4 the circumference came undone from the aluminum cone. Didn't see any tears just the dried up glue on the cone.
