Disconnecting battery to swap amps...Necessary?

always take neg batt off, or something to kill the loop. You even accidentally touch pos or neg to amp casing and you blow some mosfets or anything else. Don't risk it when it takes couple seconds to disconnect a battery.

well dont quote me on this but......... what if you take out the fuse of the live wire thats running to the amps? that what once u connect it it wont be live until you plug in the fuse?

I have swapped amps without disconnecting the battery, most have gone fine, as I didn't touch anything, but the last time I did it...........UM NOT SO MUCH.

I mistakenly touched the screwdriver against the casing on the amp, and SPARK!!!

Do yourself a favor and write down your settings if you need to, but always disconnect the final connection fuse. This only works if you have your "hot" wire connected to a fuse block. Otherwise, you will HAVE TO disconnect the battery's NEG.
