dimming issue

well if its workin fine and not slipping, i dont see the point. but actually my belt doesnt look to be in too good of condition, so ill probably get a smaller one when i replace it.
The point is you paid for a High Output alternator and your not getting the most out of it. If you change out your belt you will get what you paid for.

they put the smaller pulleys on High output alternators because it produces more amps at idle not to mention the amps it produces at 2k rpm. You may be only using 70-80% of that alternators potential.

lol, dude it makes no difference how long the belt is when it comes to output. as long as its not slipping, it will spin the pulley at the same speed as a smaller belt //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif

I am going to look into this when I swap out my HO from Iraggi. I know the pulley on it is 2" in diam. But Im not sure off hand how big my stock one is.
well i can clearly see a difference between the diameters of stock and HO pulleys, but the belt length has 0 affect on the output. i know that for a fact, its science //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

How do you like your Q12's?
Do you have any past setups to compare them to?
well i have 0 deadening atm, so it sounds like shit lol. ive never had a car rattle this bad too. i expected an accord to be pretty good with that but i guess i was wrong. other than that, theyre nice. nothing out of this world or anything. i dont see a big difference between them and my L7s to be honest. both only really get loud on low frequencies. and both have similar sounds. i can only really tell though once i deaden.

glad u got it fixed..are those Qs any louder then the L7s u had?
its hard to say because i have a new car. i have a trunk now vs a hatch, however theres less volume in the cabin of my new car. also the rattling makes it hard to tell too. it def doesnt seem as full as before though.

^^^^//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/crazy.gif.c13912c32de98515d3142759a824dae7.gif thats like saying your with your friend riding bikes, one has a 10 speed with big tires and you riding a regular size bike with smaller tires. If your both riding at the same speed or rpm, the smaller tires are rotating more and faster than the larger tires on the 10 speed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif Same thing applies to belts //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif But what do I know //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/rolleyes.gif.c1fef805e9d1464d377451cd5bc18bfb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

^^^ I dont think he is really picturing it like he should. The point is a shorter belt wont have to travel as far to spin the alternator as much as a longer belt would have to. Might have to draw a picture or something to show it better.

Its the exact same concept as SPL140 said, a bigger tire doesnt have to spin as far as a little tire does to make you go the same distance. Its the exact same thing with the length of the belt.

A longer belt would have to travel further to make one complete rotation compared to a shorter belt.
