Different types of speaker wiring

i was looking at speaker wiring and saw that there were different types of thickness and guages. whats the main difference between the thickness and what type of wiring should i get?

wire is wire except for flexibility and size

the more strands, the more flexible

the lower the gauge size, the bigger the wire

but thats power wire how do you use it for speakers? it seems to be different right?

BTW i meant different in terms of power not that you cant use power wire for subs..if you wanted too.

I have 8ga "power wire" going to my subs.

heheh good thing i put the BTW. i just meant that speaker wires do not come close to powers in terms of amperage needed and blahblahblah.

OMG some days i make sense i swear!!!!

what i meant was that when the amplifier amplifies the signal the speaker wires do not carry the same amount of amps as the power wire.
