Line output Convert necessary?

Hey guys, I am installing a system in a friend truck and he is trying to use the factory cd deck with it all. I have never installed a system using a stock deck so I was wondering how important it really is to have a lineoutput converter, or can I just tap into the rear speaker leads from the CD deck directly and splice it into the RCA's? If so, is a Walmart LOC good enough for this? Thanks!

you'll need the converter because the voltage of speaker level is too powerful for a line level. the one at walmart should done fine.

if the amp you're using has high level inputs then you can use those and directly splice into the speaker wires

he said that they will be to high. But i have used both the at walmart and the tusmani one. I would take the tusmani any day. It is great. but it is simple.

yes it's too high for rca's to splice into... but if the amp has a high level input section then he can splice his factory speaker wires into it and it will work the same if not better

id go with the converter. no sense messing up your amp\speaker\factory HU because you wanted to cheap outta $10~20

get the LOC. and be happy.

Audiocontrol will do a much better job interfacing with the stock deck.

Gives you more flexibility ... and if you ever decide to change your HU, the loc is useless, you still could use the EQL. The EQL is more than just a LOC.
