Different brands of speakers to crossovers

I wouldn't see why not. Although the components of the x-over may not be specificaly designed for that tweeter, it will still create the proper cut off points for the frequencies. I used a JBL component x-over with a set of Polk components (fried one polk x-over) and I never could hear a difference.
