Did rockford really fall off ?

X2-He is getting there slowly but surely. He has had atleast 5 or six other sig worthy of the wall comments and I am sure there are ton of other's I have not seen yet. He also has 705 post in about a month, which of probably 5 or less were post worthy.LOL

Sorry to pick on you but you have been asking for it lately with your post.

vvblazers777-When people say Old School that means at least 10+ years ago. For those of us who remember and where around in the late 80's thru mid 90's and the IASCA/USAC hay days. This usual means you are 30+ years old atleast if you had attended a IASCA Finals in the 80's or early 90's and could walk out of a B&M store with what is considered legendary RF today.FYI I don't ever remember the real RF quality stuff being cheap. It's not cheap even now find an origianal Punch45 with fan shroud cover in good condition. You will be dropping some cash to get ahold of that today. Original Power series stuff Power300, Power1000 get the pocket book out.

I started with Rockford in 91 and remain to love them. I don't think their products have gone down per say. What really does it is the overall industry change itself. Cheap power is plentiful and many from companies with good support and reliability. Back then You were either echelon like the select few companies we grew on or you were garbage flea market bottom barrel BS. Now there is such a market poised right in between with great compromises hat is make companies like RF seem to worth less now. The Power series IMO is still some solid amplification.

i just picked up two p2 just to do a buy and sell type deal. i am kinda impressed by them for the moment.i have only had them hooked up for a day now but they sound good hooked up to my hifonics bxi 2006.

WHY DO YOU BOTHER TO REPLY THEN? YOU FAIL? NEGATIVE GRUMPY AZSS PERSON.
hahaha

SO WHY DO YOU BOTHER TO REPLY?//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/eyebrow.gif.fe2c18d8720fe8c7eaed347b21ea05a5.gif People, we have another negative nancy!

BTW Jls most powerful amp is a 1000/1 and most extreeme performance subs are at least 1200 RMS. RF makes a 4k RMS amp, heck they make a 15k watt amp, put that together.//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif
Dammit denim you negative nancy!!!! lol @ "extreeme" performance subs //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/laugh.gif.48439b2acf2cfca21620f01e7f77d1e4.gif

I paid about 200 for a 15" Rockford T1 almost a year and a half ago and have been pounding that thing with a Hifonics 1206D for a while. It's been taken to countless SPL comps (hit 143 dB at the kick twice) and played hard every day. I'm throwing double the RMS power at it (Rockford recommends 600 rms, I wired the Hifonics amp to 1200 @ 1 ohm). I've had a few Rockford punch amps in the past and they have never failed me. The stuff can get pricey but I don't know what people are talkin bout when they say Rockford is crap.

I agree. Market and amp manufacturing technology has changed. Its easy to make cheap powerful amps these days. RF, like other companies, offer several lines of products at various price ranges. Their target market are not elite buyers, such as Zapco, Focal, etc. They market to the masses. Doesn't mean all their products as a whole ****. They offer different level of products based on how much a consumer is willing to spend. By the way, I don't think RF's old school amps were any more expensive than the rest of the competition at that time. Hard to compare prices today vs. products from 10 - 20 years ago.

You think wrong. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/wink.gif.608e3ea05f1a9f98611af0861652f8fb.gif//content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif In 1996 I walked out of a local B&M with two *****-ana punch 200x2's (400-800 watts), my wallet over a grand lighter at the time. I could have run down to CC or BB and picked up Pioneers or Sony's for half that.
Back then I put RF on par with PPI and SoundStream. They were competitively priced against those name brands, but those were hardly cheap for their day either.

Umm, you would compare BB/CC sony and pioneer to RF amps? You must also think all the other competitive brands like PPI, Soundstream, Orion, etc were all overpriced too. There were reasons all those brands were twice the price of the BB/CC sony and pioneer amps...

You fail at reading and comprehension.

Where did I say PPI, SS or even RF were 'over priced'? I said they weren't cheap, and they weren't. And I guess you missed this part of my post...

Cheers.

yes, as posted above, my failure to read properly, my apologies. my original reply was a response to people who said RF was overpriced...
Cool. I guess I didn't understand your earlier retraction either. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/biggrin.gif.d71a5d36fcbab170f2364c9f2e3946cb.gif
Its quite surprising these days to see someone admit they simply misread and were incorrect. Seems most people just get defensive or change the subject/stay away. My hat's off to you for your retraction. //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/cool.gif.3bcaf8f141236c00f8044d07150e34f7.gif

Cheers.

Back in the day they had quality stuff at a cheap price, thats when everyone in the school had the rockford p1's and p2 subs, now their stuff is overpriced.

I try to stray from bashing people, as we all know we don't need any more of that on the forum. So I'll say this nicely.

You are very uninformed and new to car audio if you think the P1's are "back in the day"

I was considering banning him for a moment.
