Did rockford really fall off ?

Back in the day everybody was running rf stuff. Since I have been on this board nobody talks about there products or seems to be running them. Some of there high end stuff like the new power subs seem to be pretty bad ***. I think there power amps are still regarded pretty well. Im guessing nobody wants to pay the big bucks for stuff thats just as good for half the price. Maybe the best buy reputation just reuined there crediabilty. Any opions on rockfords new stuff?

Rf got hot because they got the job done for a low cost. Now their costs have gone up, and other companies have filled the role of affordable power.

They did not fall off.

I do not think they are that overpriced. The power amps are extremely underrated. Great stuff, that is handbuilt in the US if I remember correctly.

rockford was good and low priced back in the day because they hadnt gotten full of themselves yet. Since everyone loved them back then they got it in their heads that they were the shit and this arroganc convicend them they could charge high prices.

i agree as well. rockford probably wants to squeeze consumers every penny they can now that they have their attention. but of course, the car audio pros wont fall for it, only the rick folks who have money and no brains to go with it will contunie buying exspensive equipment.

back in the day when they were awesome their head technician was a different guy, i dont remember exactly when they lost him, it was like 96 or 97. Anyway their tech left and went to mtx, that is the explanationin the shift of those 2 products. Also when best buy picked them up, they had to meet a much higher quota of product then before. More product in less time = sacrificing the degredation of the product in order to mass produce. And yes in my opinion they have gone way down hill.

when crutchfield charges 700$ for a 12 then its gone to far, especially when i can get an SX that is just as good for less than half the price

like any other company they make lower line models to appeal to people who could give a **** and dont want to spend an assload of money...

and like always their power series line is very under-rated and rock-solid...Take a look at the dbdrag results for the past years and look at what mfg's equipment was used in those set-ups..

That and the fact everyone in America wants something for nothing. If it's not the absolute cheapest product on the market, then it's labeled "overpriced".
