So my box is oddly shaped and I want to ensure that what I buy will, well, fit! Not all subs list the mounting depth, but more importantly (since my sub sits at an angle from the back wall) they do not mention how wide the max depth is.
For example, the SSA DCON is listed as having a 6.5" mounting depth. It also has a cute, er, compact magnet, so we can tell that the 6.5" is likely only in the center 3-4-5". But looking at the XCON (with no listed mounting depth), you can tell that it is deep in a wider sense. Looking at the Skar VVX-12, that just looks like it's wide the whole way (with it's squared off magnet as compared to the XCON's angular magnet.
So how can I confirm that a particular sub will fit my box without having to build a ring to sit the sub out further?
And this whole inability to get the ICON 12's is killing me. That sub seems perfect for my situation, but it seems that production will never happen. This leaves me with subs I am under-thrilled about, or that can't take the heat I'd like to throw their way. Grrr.
