I have 2 subs in a certain enclosure with a certain power producing 100db's

how many subs in the same setup will i need to reach 120db's?

depends on how many different types of subs you mix and whether or not you're using JL amps.

well in theory it should only take about half a woofer to get 120db

Depends on your drivers, the power, the box, the car... even the weather outside.

i'm talking about theoretically,

in a perfect world, discounting other factors...

using the idea that 120db's is 20db's higher than 100db's

what i'm confused about is: 20db difference is 100x more intense but only 4x audibly louder...

so does that mean i would (theoretically) need 100x the equiptment or only 4x

i'm thinkin its 100x but i'm not sure
