Decibel Questions

serioulsy can i just get an answer?or does no one actually know?
how do you expect an answer to such a retarded question. whoever even tries to answer that would just be talking out of their ***.

maybe if you mentioned a specific sub, exact enclosure specs, t/s params, and how much power per sub, then you might get somewhere. Frequency?

try answering this... theoretically

I have a certain sedan and certain box with two subs. how much watts do I need to put up 125dBs. Or how loud would I get if I had 199.9wrms?

can anyone answer?? does no one know? are you guys too stupid to answer?

i have heard that doubling the woofer is +3db also doubling power is +3db, but sound is weird, its easy to get from 60dbs to 100dbs, its superhard crazy math and doubles exponentially and things of that sort. Thats why its so hard to get up in the 150-160's

well if you have two 10s with 500 watts a piece and you replace it with two 12s the same brand and power handling and you give them 500 watts a piece you will see a 3 db - 6 db increase.

My question isn't nearly as complicated as you are making it...

VERY SIMPLELY

if you have setup (X)... doesn't matter what the setup is, all that matters is that it put's out 100db's How many setup (X)'s would it take (theoretically) to equall an output of 120 db's?

Yes, you are correct.. on paper you would need 100X the cone area for your 20db gain..
so 200 woofers..

We all know there is a lot more to it then that; but cone area is still a fundamental part of the equation..
ok if that answer is serious that is exactly what i was wondering...

does that apply reguardless of the number of subs in the original (100db) setup?

let me explain the question before people freak out because they are so smart.

if i had 2 setups both hitting 100 db's but one of them doing it with 4 subs, does that mean i would need 400 subs (on paper) to gain 20 db's?

or am i missing a step? in other words, when dealing with the 4 sub setup do i first have to calculate the output of a single sub in the 4 sub setup, and then do the math from there, or can i just say "multiply it by 100" no matter what the setup is?
