Deadening to SPL Gains in my Jeep

Totally worth it - I can't think of a cheaper way to gain a dB at this level of SPL //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif
Basically 0.9db gain from about $75 worth of sound deadening. You can't beat the value.

My 152.1 won't come back - maybe it was a fluke perfect hit on the mic or something to that effect.

I am hitting 152.0 over and over... no effect from deadening the internal areas in the rear quarter panels. I have not sealed up the holes yet - just dampening the outer skin of the vehicle from the inside. I did both sides and 152.0 it still is.

I'll post pics of the dampening I did in these areas tomorrow.

On the bright side - the Jeep is a good bit quieter outside when the bass is loud //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Do what I said.

Run the A/C in for about an hour in the shade.

Hell, empty a bag of ice on top of your roof and let it melt half way. Spread the water around to cool the sheet metal. then burp

Cooling the interior of your car can help a good deal.

Indeed //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif I need to fix my A/C to make that happen - it has a leak somewhere.

The doors are next on my list - I hear that there are usually solid gains from dampening doors.

The gains I have achieved already are well worth my time and effort even if I can't make any more - which I am sure I will find a few more tenths in there doing the doors //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif

Sundownz,
How many sq ft have you used on the roof so far?
To cover it with one layer I used less than a full bulk pack... I'd say 24-28 ft^2 and that produced all of my consistent gain so far.

Adding the second layer really didn't do anything for me... I had the phantom 0.1 that I couldn't get back, so I won't count it.

Dampening other places has not gained me yet - this is not to say it may not for others. My woofer loads against the roof... if you port or woofer loaded against the side of the vehicle dampening that part may help your setup but not mine.

$ spent to the gain on the roof is simply unbeatable. No way I could have gained nearly one full dB any other way for the cost of 24-28 ft^2 of Damplifier.

PS: Adding the second layer did quiet the roof down a bit more externally - so if you goal is the lowest amount of audible rattling I still suggest double layering your roof.

My Jeep came right off of a farm when I got it... when I burp it a bunch of "dirt" always falls off. Well, I inspected some of this dirt in my shop and it is actually rusted metal flakes mixed with old mud *laughs*

So... lets hope the Jeep lasts long enough to reach my SPL goals //content.invisioncic.com/y282845/emoticons/smile.gif.1ebc41e1811405b213edfc4622c41e27.gif :)

I was not able to meter the gain here as I had the entire system out re-working the amplifier rack for my new enclosure and new buss bars - you can see the new buss bars here :

The dBeez broke my gas tank... so I am replacing the tank before more testing and dampening.

Two days ago I noticed a huge puddle after some testing... lost about 1/8th of a tank during the work day.
