Deadening to SPL Gains in my Jeep

QUOTE-gotcha. i am not saying that it isn't possible, just not logical that 39.9 sq ft of damplifier would give you a 0.4db gain and the 0.1 sqft would give 0.1db- QUOTE
hahahaha wow! cuz these numbers are not rounded at all!! JACK AZZ

before he adds the 0.1 square foot he could be at 150.44999999999 (which rounds to 150.4)

then adding it: lets say that last 0.1 sqft increases db by .00000001 then he would have 150.5 when rounded!!!! WOOOOOOO!

ANYONE LET ME KNOW IF YOU NEED ANYMORE 4th GRADE MATH LESSONS!!! WILL WORK FOR BASS!!!!
..... or that piece of deadener sealed up an air leak or prevented a piece of metal from resonating.

* Nice shiny new gas tank!

* New fuel filter as well... the old one was almost rusted apart *laughs*

Now... I can get back to work on my testing since I am not leaking gas all over the place!

Just got my order of SecondSkin for the van.

~100 POUNDS of Damplifier Pro.

Guessing that should get the job done.

The Pro is awesome. I have some Hushmat here at the shop and the SecondSkin just dwarfs it. WAY heavier per sq ft and the foil is nuts.

(*note* the foil will cut the hell out of you when installing)

We put 2 layers on the outer skin of the doors and on the side panels near the baffle. Still have to weld the roof back (ripped it w/ 157's @ 45hz).

Whatever is left over after matting the van is going in my Avalanche.

All I can say is WOW so far...

155.0 dB -- Base-Line Score this morning

154.9 dB -- Base-Line with door panel and vapor guard off

Since the holes in my door are TINY I decided that it would be nearly impossible to do meaningful dampening to the outside skin... so I am going to use both layers INSIDE.

* Small access holes - and there is alot of crap blocking access to the front 1/2 of the door and top half of the door.

* I used two full sheets of dampener and one small piece from another sheet.

*DRUM ROLL*

HOLY CRAP. I gained 0.4 dB compared to the door skin off score and 0.3 dB from the base-line score with the door skin on from this morning.

Even going by the high 155.1 dB from the other day that is still 0.1 dB PER SHEET of Damplifier Pro!

Apparently my Jeep likes to have these holes sealed up.

With the Jeep liking the holes sealed I also think it will be best to use both layers to strengthen the areas covering the holes on the inside rather than splitting it up.

I am limited to only two layers TOTAL by the rules of most organizations so I can't go all out.

Thats wacky....i need to deaden mine ASAP
Is this 2 15 box tuned the same as the 1 15?
It is not - not yet anyway.

I made the port extra long so it can be adjusted later... currently peaking @ 47 Hz where the single box and my other dual box peaked at 53 hz. So the real vehicle peak is 53 hz and I'm off of that by quite a bit.

When I first dropped this box in it peaked at 45 Hz... I was able to move it forward which brought it up to 47 Hz and gained me 0.7 dB -- I think I am in for some big gains when I cut the port down to get the peak back to 53 Hz!
