crossover vs equalizer

i'm guessing if you want that much power, the memphis belle fits the bill. i believe it does 75 x 4 @ 4 ohm + 1100 x 1 @ 1 ohm. then find a nice two channel amp for midbass.
Maybe I don't really need that much power. Hopefully this trip to usaci finals I can sit in some SQ cars. I was the 2nd person I know to purchase a componet sets and never really sat in a real good setup. I have sat in many of those 4 or 5 6x9s in the rear deck setups and decided that wasn't for me. So maybe I don't need all those watts really...

I think the most practical thing for me is to

-get the germs because they have the most flexible crossover (ie go passive)

-get that cal 27 tweeter

-call it a day

Until I know what I am doing really, I don't know if it will be very beneficial. I constanlty think of npdang's sig about buying expensive equipment but can't buy good sound.

Thanks for the help/discussion

yea that is true about dang's saying but i said, f*** it. well my stuff retail wise is expensive but i got everything at great prices although when i price it all out, it comes out to be a pretty penny.

for the looks of it i say you stick to a nice two way setup. but still go active as if you are really serious about it, it'll teach you a lot of things tuning wise. if you want the cal 27 tweet, i say go DIY. find a nice mid that can play up to 2-3khz or so. scan speak revs, seas nextel, seas lotus reference mids comes to mind. then i'd be easier because then you wouldn't have to purchase an h701/p9 combo, buy more amplification and one more set of drivers. find a nice HU that does 3 way, and call it a day.

I was thinking of the PRS880 anyway (gotta stay pioneer)

What would you reccomend as a good 'drop in mid' door will be deadened. I have no particular preference except it does decent @ 125w RMS. I will just have to find a small amp for the tweeters. I have another US AMP but it is old school so I am aprehensive about using it, and it doesn't have any crossover on it at all.
